Rara is a film production house based in Medellín, Colombia
Over the course of the last ten years, we have produced and co-produced feature-length films, short films, music videos, web series, fiction and documentary Films. In 2019 we released our first feature film Days of the Whale at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, where it received the Cherry Picks Award from Critics and has been part of the selection of different film festivals such as FICCI, BAFICI, Mostra Sao Paulo, the Zurich Film Festival and the Melbourne Film Festival; the film is currently streaming on HBO Max and Mowies.
Catalina Arroyave
Director, Screenwriter and Acting Coach
She is the director and the writer of “Days of the Whale”, her debut feature film. She has participated in the casting and coaching of actors of several national and international productions.
Jaime Guerrero Naudin
Creative Producer and Production Director
In addition to having produced “Days of the Whale”, he has taken part in several internationally produced and co-produced feature-length films.
David Correa Franco
Cinematographer and Film Director
He was behind the cinematography of “Days of the whale”, “The Nobodies” and “The Rust”. He is currently working on the post-production of his debut film, the documentary “Parts of a Home”.
Mariana Gil Ríos
Multidisciplinary Artist and Film Director
She published a graphic novel, “Raquel and the End of the World” and has worked as script consultant for several projects. She is currently writing her debut feature film, “Always the lions haunted around always”
Camilo Escobar
Assistant Director and Film Director
He has worked as Assistant Director in narrative and documentary feature films, music videos, and commercial spots. He directs audiovisual projects for the clients of Rara.
Andrés Arias
Photographer and Cultural Advocate
He is the coordinator of our short-film program “Cortos de largo alcance” (Long-Range Shorts). He is the Director of the short film “Headless” and has worked as Unit Still Photographer in different fiction film projects in Colombia.
Some of the projects developed and produced by Rara have won the programs of incentives of the Film Development Fund – FDC, the Municipality of Medellín and the Ministry of Culture; additionally, we have an audience development line formed of a quarterly short-film program known as “Cortos de largo alcance” (Long-Range Shorts) and a workshop series aimed at different types of audiences.
